2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces

Wood chips for smoking (apple or cherry recommended)

Vanilla ice cream (optional, for serving)

Indulge in a sweet and smoky twist with this Smoked Apple Pie! Granny Smith apples, warm spices, and a flaky crust combine for a delicious dessert cooked right on your smoker. Perfect for elevating your BBQ menu!

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or smoker to 250°F (121°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice. Mix well until the apples are evenly coated.
  3. Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a pie dish. Trim any excess crust.
  4. Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust, distributing it evenly.
  5. Dot the top of the apple mixture with small pieces of butter.
  6. Place the pie on the grill or smoker and add the wood chips for smoking.
  7. Close the lid and smoke the pie for approximately 2 hours, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  8. Remove the pie from the grill and let it cool before serving.
  9. Serve slices of smoked apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.
